On April 24, Hanil Cement CEO Jeon Gun-sik
and Hanil Holdings CEO Park Ji-hoon attended the “2025 Startup Korea Fund
Launch Ceremony” hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups at Hotel Naru
Seoul MGallery.
The Startup Korea Fund is a public-private
joint venture investment platform created to support deep-tech startups aiming
to enter global markets. With participation from large corporations, SMEs,
financial institutions, and the government, the fund will total approximately
KRW 600 billion this year. Combined with KRW 873.3 billion raised in 2023, the
initiative will channel a total of KRW 1.5 trillion into supporting startups
over two years.
At the ceremony, CEO Jeon stated, “Hanil
Cement is paying close attention to key super-gap sectors such as energy
transition, eco-friendly technologies, and the digitalization of manufacturing
processes. Open innovation will allow us to form strategic partnerships with
companies in these areas.”
Through Hanil VC—a corporate venture
capital (CVC) firm established in 2022 by Hanil Holdings with an investment of
KRW 10 billion—Hanil Cement has been identifying startups that can generate
synergies with the cement industry. With its participation in the fund, the
company aims to strengthen strategic collaboration with innovative startups,
enhance its existing value chain, and secure future growth engines.
