The “Cement Day” event was held at the Seoul Yeouido Conrad Hotel on Jul. 1 to strengthen the status of the cement industry, which contributed to Korea’s economic development as a national backbone industry, and encourage industry workers. Hosted by the Korea Cement Association, the event was attended by more than 200 personalities in the industry and politics including Hanil Cement’s CEO Jeon Gun-sik, CEOs of other cement companies, members of the parliament (People Power Party’s Lee Chul-gyu, Yu Sang-beom, Eom Tae-young), department head Lee Seung-ryeol of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and more. Leaders in the cement industry signed the “Cement Day” joint statement stating the advancement of achieving carbon neutrality and resource recycling society, as well as mutual cooperation for a sustainable future. Government awards were also given to contributors to the development of the cement industry. Hanil Cement director Lim Seom-gun and Hanil Hyundai Cement director Yang Jae-seon were awarded the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy minister award, and Hanil Cement department head Nam Dong-hak and Hanil Hyundai Cement department head Wi Gwang-bok were given the Korea Cement Association chairman award.
