In 2025, Hanil Cement was once again named
No. 1 in the cement sector of the “Korea’s Most Respected Companies” survey by
Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC). This marks the company’s 22nd
consecutive year receiving the top honor since the award's inception in 2004,
reaffirming its position as a leading company in Korea’s cement industry.
Founded in 1961, Hanil Cement has
consistently led innovation in the industry—becoming the first cement company
to go public in 1969 and launching Korea’s first dry mortar in 1991,
transforming construction site practices. The company continues to lead market
trends with new products tailored to evolving consumer needs. It also pioneered
workplace innovation by introducing a bi-weekly four-day workweek system in
April 2024, the first in the industry, enhancing employee welfare.
In 2004, Hanil Cement became the first in
the industry to acquire ISO 9001 certification across all its sites,
establishing a company-wide quality management system. With 35 products
certified under the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) scheme, the company
boasts one of the most comprehensive eco-friendly product portfolios in the
sector. It also holds 15 green technology patents related to carbon reduction
and resource recycling.
Hanil is also at the forefront of carbon
reduction technology. In August 2024, it successfully conducted a trial pour of
flooring mortar injected with carbon dioxide. This not only helps reduce
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere but also enhances the strength of the
mortar. If CO₂ were applied to all flooring mortar sold annually by Hanil
Cement, it could reduce up to 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The company has also taken strides in ESG
management. It established an ESG Management Committee in 2022 to systematize
detailed action plans across all divisions. For two consecutive years (2023 and
2024), Hanil Cement received an integrated “A” grade in the ESG evaluation
conducted by the Korea ESG Standards Institute. The “A” grade signifies
excellence in ESG governance and risk management, placing Hanil in the top 25%
of the 791 KOSPI-listed companies.
With a long-term vision to achieve Net Zero
by 2050, Hanil Cement continues to grow as a sustainable 100-year enterprise
that fulfills its social responsibilities.
The “Korea’s Most Respected Companies”
survey has been conducted annually by KMAC since 2004. It evaluates companies
based on comprehensive corporate value and reputation, using surveys from
executives, securities analysts, and general consumers. The 2025 results were
based on surveys conducted from October to December 2024.
