Hanil Cement acquired certification as an outstanding company in Korea Energy Efficiency Partnership 30 (KEEP30). Operated by the Korea Energy Agency, “KEEP 30” is a program through which 30 energy-guzzling companies strive to reduce energy use for five years (2023–2027) with government assistance. The certification ceremony took place at the Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Namdaemun on December 6.

Companies participating in “KEEP 30” have been working to reduce their energy consumption rates by over 1% every year since the signing of the agreement in October 2022. Here, energy consumption rate is the amount of energy use divided by the amount of product manufacturing. A high energy consumption improvement rate means that energy has been used efficiently during production. 

Hanil Cement recorded a 6.6% energy consumption improvement rate in 2023, which is three times greater than 2.2% as the average rate of improvement posted by 30 participating companies. In 2023, Hanil Cement remodeled some of its preheating towers in Danyang Plant to increase the use of circulating fuel, continuously investing as well in its facilities aimed at energy use reduction.
