3 quality circles from the Hanil Cement Danyang plant participated in the 50th National Quality Circle Contest held at the Suwon Convention Center on Aug. 26-30 and received 1 gold and 2 bronze awards. 

A total of 298 quality circle teams selected after the regional preliminaries in 17 cities and provinces participated in the contest hosted jointly by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, Gyeonggi-do, and Suwon-si, and supervised by the Korean Standards Association. Participating in the carbon neutral sector, the Danyang plant “Change” circle received the gold award with the topic of “Reducing carbon emissions by improving the alternative fuel input process & transportation equipment.” Additionally, the electric team “Driver” circle, which participated in the mutual cooperation sector, received the bronze award for “Reducing stop time by improving the ingredient crushing process,” and the Office Coalition Wise Answer circle, which participated in the smart factory sector, received the bronze award also, with the topic of “Reducing stop time by establishing a smart system for the fit sealing process.” 

The National Quality Circle Contest is held every year featuring workers as the central figures in revolutionizing the quality of industrial sites, presenting excellent examples of manufacturing innovation and quality improvement such as carbon neutrality and improvement of on-site quality. The awarding ceremony will be held at the “National Quality Circle Contest” in November.
