우덕재단이 지난 8월 28일 서울 서초구 한일시멘트 본사에서 ‘제3회 우덕 미래건축가상’ 시상식을 개최했다.

The Udeok Foundation hosted the “3rd Udeok Architect Awards” ceremony at Hanil Cement’s headquarters in Seocho-gu on Aug. 28. This contest was held targeting undergraduate and graduate students nationwide with the topic “Cement structures using eco-friendly construction materials.” Design plates including perspective and plane figures were submitted starting July, with a total of 10 submissions advancing to the finals.

The top award went to Gang Dong-hyeok, Kim Seong-hyeon, and Mun Su-yeong from Jeju National University, who submitted office building designs within a cement factory with the topic “Project COC (Cement Office Community).” Reflecting the geographical characteristics and even considering convergence with the community, the design received high marks.

Aside from the grand prize of KRW 7 million, KRW 4 million to two runner-up teams, KRW 2 million to three excellence prize winners, and KRW 1 million to four encouragement prize winners, KRW 25 million worth of scholarships were given away.

The awards ceremony was held by having finalists directly present their work and aggregating and announcing the scores given by the judges. O Hyeon-il, a winner at the “iF Design Awards 2024” for the residential sector, and Lee Jin-o, a winner at the “2022 Public Building Awards of Korea,” were invited as judges to provide expert advice to participants.

The Udeok Foundation has been holding the “Udeok Architect Award” since 2022 to foster excellent talent from various classes of society. The Udeok Foundation was established in 1983 for the purpose of returning corporate profit to society and fostering future leaders in keeping with the vision of Hanil Cement founder CEO Heo Chae-gyeong.
