Hanil Cement and Hanil Hyundai Cement hosted the CSO (Chief Safety Operator) safety forum at the Seoul Seocho-dong headquarters on April 23 to strengthen the safety awareness of employees.

A total of 19 people including CSO O Hae-geun and factory leaders of key Hanil Cement and Hanil Hyundai Cement production factories attended. CSO O Hae-geun started the forum by holding special lectures and debates to share the goals of safety health management with managers from all workplaces. In the continued education, a safety culture consulting organization was invited to provide education on specific examples for the role of management to establish a safety culture.

“It is important to manage indirect factors alongside blocking direct risk factors to prevent disasters such as the safety awareness of employees. We will enhance the safety mindset and safety knowledge of all employees through continuous training,” CSO O Hae-geun said.

Hanil will encourage safety awareness by holding a relay safety resolution contest in all workplaces until May. As a first step, Hanil Cement’s Yeongwol Factory held the “Zero Serious Accident Safety Commitment Contest” on the first day of the month with the Gangwon branch of Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency. About 200 employees from the Yeongwol plant and partners participated in the commitment contest to encourage safety awareness by reciting a safety commitment oath. After the commitment contest, KOSHA and Yeongwol plant chief Park Jin-gyu conducted a joint safety inspection for all facilities in the plant.

Hanil Cement promoted the headquarters safety management team to safety office in 2023 to advance its safety health management organization structure. In addition, a “CSO safety inspection day” was enacted to carry out practical safety management such as inspecting the status, deducing risk factors, and inspecting the fulfillment of improvements in production facilities across 24 workplaces nationwide.
