Hanil Cement was named No. 1 “most respected company in Korea” in the cement sector in 2024, according to the announcement by the Korea Management Association Consultants (KMAC). This is the 21st consecutive honor since 2004 when the survey was first conducted, further solidifying the company's status as a leader of the Korean cement industry.

The feat is attributed to the company's unceasing efforts to lead the paradigm of the construction materials industry since the company's foundation in 1961; Hanil Cement executed an initial public offering for the first time in the industry in 1969, launched the first-ever BCT (bulk cement truck) in Korea, and released the first dry mortar of the domestic market in 1991.

In particular, it leads the advancement of domestic construction by examining issues that occur at construction sites. It launched "FS600HD," a type of remitar for floors that help alleviate noise between apartments, as well as the “Polyfix” series for attachment of tiles to reduce the particles generated compared to the existing tile cement. In addition, it has reduced the unit weight of premium plastering remitar packages down to 25kg, which helps prevent muscular skeletal diseases among construction workers and reduce the number of plastering tasks to one; thus shortening the construction period and saving on labor costs.

In 2004, all of its worksites acquired ISO 9001, an international standard in quality management system, for the first time in the industry; thus establishing a company-wide structure for quality management. By acquiring Environmental Product Declaration certificates for 35 of its products so far, it currently boasts of an industry-leading portfolio of eco-friendly products and also has 15 patents on eco-friendly technology related to carbon emission reduction and recycling of resources.

Not only that—it created an ESG Management Committee in 2022 to systematize detailed assignments to carry out in each sector, and scored a grade of A in the ESG assessment conducted by the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability in 2023. In particular, it aims to research and materialize greenhouse gas emission reduction and—with the goal of achieving Net-Zero by 2050—plans to grow continuously as not only a sustainable centennial corporation but also a company that fulfills its social responsibilities.

As a survey model that comprehensively evaluates companies’ overall value domains, the “most respected company in Korea” has been announced by the Korea Management Association Consulting for 21 years since 2004. The survey was conducted from October to December last year among executives of the industry, analysts from stock firms, and general consumers.
