The "1st Cement Day" ceremony was held at the Federation of Korean Industries Building in Yeouido, Seoul to designate July 1 as Cement Day. This event, which was hosted by the Korea Cement Association, was attended by Hanil Cement CEO Jeon Gun-sik, presidents of various cement companies, People Power Party National Assemblymen Eom Tae-young and Choi Choon-sik, Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy Materials Convergence Industry Policy Officer Choi Woo-seok, and about 200 other financial and government personalities. The event featured a joint recital of the declaration of "Cement Day" and the signing of the declaration by the presidents of cement companies, as well as awards given to those who contributed to the development of the cement industry. For the awards that were given through recommendations of the industry and association, based on fair judgment by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, Ministry of Environment, and academe, Hanil Cement Executive Director Oh Hae-geun and Hanil Cement Executive Na Sang-cheol received the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy medal, and Hanil Cement Kim Dong-hoon won the Ministry of Environment medal, with Director Kim Doo-ha and Deputy Director Jang Sung-il winning the Korea Cement Association medal.
