Hanil Cement installed an Energy Storage System (ESS) at its Danyang Plant on August 30, 2018.
An ESS system saves energy costs by storing electric energy during nighttime when the electricity is cheap for use during day time when the electricity is expensive. The capacity of the ESS unit installed at Danyang Plant is 48 MWh, the largest among the facilities installed by cement companies.
Hanil Cement is already saving about 10 billion won in annual electricity costs from its waste heat recovery facility and is expecting to save additional 2.5 billion won in annual electricity costs from the new ESS.
