Hanil Cement Danyang Plant won the Corporate Quality Management Prize at the 2017 Chungcheongbuk-do Quality Management Competition hosted by the Province of Chungcheongbuk-do and sponsored by the Korean Standards Association. The award was presented by the governor of the province. This award recognizes the manufacturing plant’s outstanding quality management activities that led to stronger product competitiveness and reliability.

Hanil Cement Danyang Plant was established in 1964, growing into the company’s flagship cement factory with a production capacity of eight million tons. After obtaining ISO 9001 certification in 2004, the plant has been producing various KS-grade products including Types 1-5 of Portland cement, other blast-furnace slag cements, furnace slag powder for concrete, and fillers for asphalt pavement. In addition, all executives and employees at the production site made their best efforts to establish and improve quality management system to secure high quality competitiveness. Plant manager Choi Deok-geun said that his organization will continue to do its best to supply unique products for customer satisfaction.

During the award event, quality production cells were recognized with honors as well. The competition event was participated by thirty-seven quality production teams in thirty-one production plants in Chungcheongbuk-do. Team Eoullim and Team Bulkkot from Danyang Plant Production Team won Best Cell Prizes, and Team 21st Century won an Outstanding Cell Prize.

Team Eoullim competed in the production site improvement area to give a presentation on how they reduced facility failures by improving grinding fuel transport process for Production Unit No. 10. Team Bulkkot, which participated in environmental safety area, discussed potential risk factor reduction through renewable energy conversion process improvement. In addition, Team Sobaeksan, another cell from Danyang Plant, presented on the reduction of failure occurrences by improving cement powdering process, and Team 21st Century discussed their reduction of nonconformity rate by improving cement packaging process. Team Eoullim and Team Bulkkot, which won the Best Cell Prizes, will participate in the Forty-Third National Quality Production Cell Competition hosted in Cheongju in August.
