Hanil Cement announced last 14th that they developed high efficient ‘photocatalytic cement mortar’ to decompose pollutants in air together with Hwaseung T&C. Photocatalytic cement mortar utilizes light energy like sunlight to decompose air pollutants like volatile organic compounds (VOC)or NOx semi-permanently, and it also has sterilization function to improve air quality indoors and outdoors. Officials of Hanil Cement said ‘photocatalytic mortar is new alternative building material for preventing air pollution, and relevant technologies are being registered for the patent. It has various utilizations like medians on highways, inner walls of tunnels, entrances and exits of toll gates, inner walls of buildings and basement parking lots.
