Kim Deok-rae, who works for the Electrical Team at Hanil Cement Danyang Plant, won the Industrial Service Medal on April 30, in an event hosted at Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel to celebrate the Workers’ Day on May 1. Kim worked for the company for twenty-six years, and expended his efforts to make a better workplace by improving working conditions and establishing a culture of mutual prosperity between the labor union and the management. He also shared his knowledge with his colleagues, thereby generating synergy effects in business operation. In recognition of his service to the industry, the Korean government awarded him with the Industrial Service Medal, an honor created to find and celebrate workers who displayed diligence and creativity while helping enforce corporate competitiveness by working towards a mutually beneficial labor-management relationship. The medal has been awarded since 1975 by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
